The Final Bill: Trump Tax Reform

Good to hear someone at least admit the basics of this measure.

And how is that going to benefit the country exactly? We just want to give the very wealthy a nice l'il windfall?

You don't mind demanding the wealthier providing the government with a windfall when you support them paying a higher PERCENTAGE in income tax.

The greatest trick that the powers that be & their donors play is getting people who are going to end up paying for a huge windfall for the rich in the long run to actually argue FOR it...

I'll prob get a couple thousand of dollars out of this tax cut. For some reason you and your ilk are trying to convince me this is bad for me. Ok bro.

Wonder how many of those opposing this bill, if they should happen to get a tax cut, will voluntarily send it back to the federal government? Lefties have quite often said they wouldn't mind paying more if it went to (fill in the blank).

Pennywise, pound foolish.

It's like the casino giving you $100 in free chips.

If you get a cut are you going to voluntarily send it back since you believe the federal government should have more money? I bet you keep it. Funny thing is lefties have been known to say they'd be more than happy to pay a little more in taxes if it went to (fill in the blank). How can you in good conscience accept a greater return?

you are full of shit, and a jealous prole. Millions of normal tax paying americans are going to get a big fat tax cut and it's going to schlong you up the ass. Just like how 3-4 GDP was impossible. I don't go out on a limb very often but I am very confident people like having more money.

As for the 40% takers, well they dont pay taxes, so how would they get a tax cut? They are irrelevant.

No need for the harsh language. The tax cut is good for me - but I think generationally.

Listen man

If you are at a point where people having their own money is "bad" and "Wrong", you need to revaluate the faith you put into various systems.

Well, now you're just not thinking. That logic doesn't work at a certain point.

Using that reasoning, it's "better" if there are no taxes whatsoever. Because people would have more of their own money.

I support tax reform. I support lower tax rates; I think morally, taxes ultimately should be capped at 33% - one third of income.

Doesn't change the fact that this plan is a giveaway - the estate tax provisions in particular are antithesis to the vision of the founders.

I bet it wouldn't surprise you that I actually do believe this.

If they have kids they will get more money back via the increased child tax credit.

So, what level of estate tax is acceptable to you? You think it matters that they protected the first $10mm in value of an individuals estate? So $20mm for a couple. How do you see that effecting Trump, Gates, Buffet, etc...?

This bill is flawed with all the compromises.

I'm disappointed that SALT deduction wasn't completely eliminated. Think of the effect of tens of millions of blue-state denizens suddenly confronted with having to pay their fair share federal taxes for the first time in years?

I'd also like to have seen child deductions done away with. Why should I subsidize other people's living expenses?

Religious exemptions and charitable donations should not exist, either. Virtue signal on your own dime, takers.

Then there's the entitlements that continue to suck the life out of the Treasury. It's funny that liberals don't think about "the grandchildren" while they cash their boomer checks and go to the subsidized doctor/hospital with their Boomer problems.

Or taxes only for the things to which the Constitution grants the federal government delegated authority. Last time I looked, that list is a lot smaller than what the government actually does.

If they have kids they will get more money back via the increased child tax credit.

What that increase will do is allow the lowest income amount at which a family starts paying a dime in income taxes to be higher. Currently, due solely to the makeup of the family, a family of four (2 adults, 2 children) doesn't pay a dime in income taxes until the family income is $48,300 and then their liability is only ONE DOLLAR. Not knowing what other things related to the family makeup will be for 2017 (standard deduction, exemptions) but using the 2016 numbers, if the child tax credit was $2000/child, that $48,300 amount for that family of four becomes $61,650 and then it's only FOUR DOLLARS. That amount doesn't include other credits which may apply. It only takes into consideration things related to the makeup of the family (size, children).

The Constitution grants the federal government delegated and implied powers.
