I think a major city should be chosen to serve as an experimental platform to see how that might work in real contemporary life.
The Wild West days SUGGEST it could work, but there are too many variables that makes today different than then to just assume that we could have a peaceful and respectful society by making everyone armed.
But I would like it tried.
And if it worked to a great enough degree, I would probably get behind it as long as the unintended consequences didn't doom it.
