I'm against politicizing sports regardless of the cause and regardless who does it.

Colin Kaepernick used politics more for personal purposes, but he wasn't the first to politicize sports. Jimmy Carter wasn't the first to politicize sports either, but I firmly believe politics should be left out of sports and those who do it ejected from the field and stripped of any awards.

For the past week, they’ve played the national anthem one time a night at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials.

On Saturday, the song happened to start while outspoken activist Gwen Berry was standing on the podium after receiving her bronze medal in the hammer throw.

While the music played, Berry placed her left hand on her hip and shuffled her feet. She took a quarter turn, so she was facing the stands, not the flag. Toward the end, she plucked up her black T-shirt with the words “Activist Athlete” emblazoned on the front, and draped it over her head.

“I feel like it was a set-up, and they did it on purpose,” Berry said of the timing of the anthem. “I was pissed, to be honest.”

Fuck her and the horse she rode in on. The cunts that do this shit shouldnt represent America.

nothing says America and freedom more than telling people what they can say and when.

No one stopped the stupid bitch from saying what she wanted where she wanted. Isn't it you fucking cunts that say you're free to say what you like but not free from the consequences? You fucking toddlers want it both ways huh?

Last I checked liberals in sports don't have tax exempt status. Let's not even talk about it until
Republican scum preachers stop using Sunday to teach their flock of grey morons and troglodyte kids
to hate liberals using MY tax dollars.

Disagreed. OTOH, if a person is sponsored and/or participates in supported events, then requiring them to sign a contract is common. All sports contracts have morals clauses. If the NFL weren't chickenshits, they would have enforced Kap's contract.

No doubt Gwen signed agreements too and should be held to those agreements. My proposal is to amplify banning political behavior on the field in those same contracts.

Politics aren't the problem in sports.
Nationalism is.

Why do we need the anthem at sporting events?
It's a pain in the ass.
We started doing it during WWI and haven't had the intelligence to stop doing it.

Nobody can show where it's done any good.
The problems that it's caused, however, are well documented.

Screw the anthem. It serves no purpose.

yeah, i know. in other words, limit their right speak about what they want. why not be more american? you can protest, you can insult, you can spit on the flag, and others have the right to "cancel" your ass, to boycott any brands you sponsor, etc. etc. unless it is promoting violence, why is the government involved?

Wow. That's a hard left turn off the pavement and into a tree.

Good luck with your hate campaign to ban religion. Maybe Biden will do it before he resigns or Harris will do it next year as President. ;)

BTW, it's against 503c rules to preach politics. Like the LW gun-banning agenda, this is an enforcement issue, not a "we need more laws" issue.

Seriously? So you have no problem with Marjorie Taylor Greene or Matt Gaitz saying whatever bullshit they want because it would be unAmerican to "limit their right" to speak as they like? WTF?

A contract is a contract. An oath is an oath. Do you really want military officers giving their opinions about politics because you don't think it's right to limit their freedom of speech?

What does the Olympic committee say about that?

where is it in their contract? a soldier has limited constitutional rights, as do minors.

Ahh, so you hate the military so much you want to limit their free speech but no one else?

Anyone who participates in a sport signs a waiver/contract. Anyone who doesn't have their Hoosier Head up their Hoosier Ass should know this as fact.

During the award ceremony in the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru where Berry was awarded the gold medal for the hammer throw, she raised her fist at the end of the playing of "The Star Spangled Banner" in protest against injustice in America "and a president who's making it worse."[18][19] Berry's protests led the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee to issue new guidelines in order to allow peaceful expressions of protest "in support of racial and social justice for all human beings."[20] Berry has stated: "I'm here to represent those who died due to systemic racism."

Berry was reprimanded by the International Olympic Committee, who placed her on probation for 12 months, prohibiting her from any form of protest for a year. Her act cost her sponsorships, and she estimated that she lost $50,000.[21]
