Won't work. You can't charge them all without using fuel. There isn't enough lithium or cobalt available for the the batteries. Replacing the batteries is very expensive. The range on them is limited by it's charging rate.

Cum breath, I said I have no problem with a sane orderly transition to a new mode of transportation. We progressed from the horse to the horse and steam to ICE and we will progress eventually from ICEs to electricity . But we will need to power them with something. Nuclear and renewables would be the sane choice but e all know Liberals aren't sane. And we will still need fossil fuels for plastics and air travel however. But I still need to drive my grand kids to school and to tow my 5th wheel on vacations TODAY an that can only be done today with a Diesel powered truck.

And still will be. It's more efficient than using that fuel to power a generator to convert it to electricity, use that to charge a battery, and use that battery to power the vehicle. Every time you convert from one form of energy to another, there is a loss due to waste heat.

Forget about today, the future, just a few years from now, is electric. Since about 50% of all oil goes to production of gasoline, we will be needing less oil in the not distant future.
