Blue Wall Continues To Crumble Around Chauvin

Weren't there protests over increased police budgets in some cities last fall? The beginning of FY2021?
I don't think the protesters were intelligent enough to know what a FY is. The catchphrase re. defunding the police was a product of some on college campuses who saw punitive damages as the only way to rein in rogue police unions. Others actually believed that society would be better off without police.

Kids. There is no question that the training has to be altered to end the military tactics as a first response. Frankly, I believe a lot of cops suffer roid rage.

Both lawyers suck.
Jurors have been seen nodding off.

Look for a mistrial.
Chauvin may catch a break until they find another way to deal with him.
Defense is grasping at straws. Prosecution is taking too much time addressing proper protocol because they aren't allowed to address the actual murder as seen through the eyes of real cops. So they're going to drill home the fact that Chauvin was NOT following his training.

Wait until the medical experts start testifying. Everyone will be snoozing.

They're saving it all for closing arguments where they can state their cases in monologue form.
The jurors may be completely zoned out by then.

Yes. You can tell by the defense cross that they are struggling to extract out of context snippets to be used during closing.

I'm quite sure the prosecution is on a short leash w/respect to the firing, and past association. In fact, the police that testified were only allowed to do so in a very narrow scope. NO opinions re. Chauvin's actions.

Facts are important in court, not opinion. Blackstone's Ratio weights the court toward the defense as in this case of "prior bad acts". "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" is a high bar, as it should be. We have too many innocent people in jail because of opinion and juries that were too eager to convict.

All they had to hear was that the police budget was being scheduled for a funding increase to be triggered.

$20 says there is no mistrial. Are you in, neef?

I would be if we weren't on the internet, Oom.

I've been the one on an 11-1 hung jury. That was in 2006.
It happens really easily, and since I was never called for jury duty again, one wonders if something was noted by somebody.

I'm really expecting a hung jury, but if there's an acquittal, Chauvin will have really made the right choice not to wave a jury trial.
Were he actually innocent, he'd trust a professional judge over an amateur jury. That's just how these things usually work.

If you can't afford it, that's fine. Usually I handle bets with donations to the forum in the winner's name which handles the problem of Person-to-Person contact.

Plus it has the advantage of a neutral third party verifying that you welched. :)

FWIW, well over 99% of forum posters won't back their posts with a $1 bet much less a $10 or $20 bet. Already Matt Dillon/Wolverine and Dark Soul/China Joe/Jim Eagle have welched on bets to me...which is a win in itself.

I'm not in a position to upgrade my Gulfstream just now, but a $20 bet is easily doable even for a poor Marxist proletarian like Nifty.

I promise to make a $20 donation, under the name Oom as that's all that I know, to AOC's next election campaign whether we get a mistrial or not.
She's not from my Massachusetts congressional district, of course, but I'd be sending her a modest twenty anyway, so an extra twenty from you
will demonstrate that both of us are good citizens with social responsibility.

No since there's no way for me to verify you actually gave the money to a campaign. Besides, how is that a win for me?

You, neef, like everyone else, are free to post all the bullshit you want without having to back it up with facts or money. Have a nice day!

No? Did I ask your permission, Oom? It's as good as done.
Despite your protestations, I'm doing what little I can to pay off your soul's Karma debt.
I'm all but a fucking saint, Oom, whether you realize it or not.

Graag gedaan.

Translation: No fucking way am I going to throw away money backing up my own posts.

 Okey dokey, neef.

Your Dutch to English translation skills could use improvement, Oom.
I'm not contributing to the lessons, however.
I'm already giving AOC twenty bucks for you.
We're not so close that I'll pay for your education as well.
What happed to that conservative self-reliance?

Yes. That's a necessary ill that often allows murderers and thieves to walk free.

Prosecution isn't always as lucky as this one, who has video evidence of the murder.

Waffle all you like, neef, but the fact remains you don't want to back up your opinion with either facts or money and now your knickers are in a bunch because I pointed out that fact.

Agreed. The video and audio evidence is damning enough without every LEO on the stand testifying that Chauvin broke every rule, every regulation and every aspect of his training.

Damning for sure. But without the boring testimony from numerous sources, the Defense could easily convince the jury that Chauvin was following protocols.
