I think on some level they admire him for getting away with all his sleazy deals, criminal doings, affairs, refusals to pay for work done, and so on. They are the same ppl who eat up movies about Mafiosa gangs and godfathers rubbing out the competition and becoming rich and powerful via intimidation and the ability to buy off cops and politicians. So interesting to see the former "law and order" crowd worship someone who is anything but.
