Well that has to do with precedents and public perception somewhat. If we just grant amnesty to all current illegals, why stop there? We've already seen amnesty policies pushed periodically by each party, so if it was acceptable then, it's easy to make the argument for it now. If it's acceptable now, why not do it again in a few years?

Yet, if it becomes clear that you really don't even have to follow immigration rules in the long run, why bother? I don't see much point in having any immigration restrictions if we're just going to periodically grant amnesty to everyone every few years or so.

Only because we don't prosecute these companies for breaking federal law. They get tons of money from the federal government, so they have no excuse to depend on cheap labor. They should be automating more and should hire legal citizens.

One has to hang their head in shame when faced with the total ignorance of the American people in particular that of the right wing. Free medical care for the poor, poorhouses, food banks, postal roads, the military, welfare for Native Americans, public education, and the list goes on, all supported by the government, paid for by taxpayers, and all are socialist programs in accordance to what the right calls "socialism" today.

"Self reliance" is a myth for the weak minded.

It was 40 acres when the slaves were freed.

However, not being a dumb mother f**ker like you, I could raise a family of 12 on that much land e.g 10 acres for an organic orchard, 10 acres for hay, 2 acres for a garden, and the rest for pasture.

First question should be how much did they pay for that land they squatted on?

Next would be who paid for the building of the roads, the railroads, the protection of the settlers?

Then, do you know what a "barn raising" was?

Finally, where in the article does it speak of the Founding fathers?

I did find this to be interesting even if it had nothing to do with the founding of the country:
