About 12,466 stations had reportedly run empty as of Sunday evening.

Gasoline shortages continue to plague much of the East Coast, leaving a majority of the stations in Washington, D.C., out of fuel.

It is not a gas shortage.

There was never a shortage of gasoline.

*COLONIAL* shut the pipeline down because the ransomware attacked their billing system.

So they shut down the pipeline, which was full of gasoline, because they couldn't bill anyone for the gas.

Prove that.

Customers in Washington, DC seem to think it is.

Well it isn't.

The pipeline was fully operational and had gasoline in it.

Colonial shut it down, which created the shortage, because the ransomware attacked their billing system and if the pipeline were to remain open, they would have been unable to charge anyone for gasoline.

You need to get the facts straight.

I bet AOC is not riding a bike to work.....

"In response to the cybersecurity attack on our system, we proactively took certain systems offline to contain the threat, which temporarily halted all pipeline operations, and affected some of our IT systems," a Colonial rep said in a statement to the network.

So the ransomware didn't shut down the pipeline, Colonial did because people would get free gas.

Looks to me like they couldn't meter the pipeline system and that means they really had little idea what was going where. That's not a good thing in a pipeline or the storage system when you don't know what is going into what tank where...

CNN and cybersecurity journalist Kim Zetter reported that Colonial's inability to account for the fuel usage weighed heavily into their ultimate decision to pull the plug.
"In response to the cybersecurity attack on our system, we proactively took certain systems offline to contain the threat, which temporarily halted all pipeline operations, and affected some of our IT systems," a Colonial rep said in a statement to the network.

It'd be like operating a railroad and not knowing where the trains are at on it...

Right, so THEY shut it down.

Just like I said.

So I was correct in that it was Colonial who shut it down, not the hackers, and they shut it down over $$.

No, they shut it down because they couldn't safely move fuel through it. Or, are you clueless about how pipelines work?

Do you know what that is and what it's used for?
