why bring an unknown into the argument? if she signed some agreement, why don't we know about it? how can you stop a person from kneeling during a song? or just not paying attention?

professional athletes don't take a knee or turn their backs on flags for POLITICAL reasons........they're not disrespecting the Democrats or republicans, they're staging a protest....about racism. Kaepernick didn't take that first knee because he's a Democrat and hates the other party

Just because you do doesn't mean everyone does. In fact, as JPP has repeatedly proved, only the lowest IQ and/or mentally disturbed people are racists.

Most intelligent, educated and sane adults don't give a shit about race. They're more worried about their jobs and families. It's all the low IQ RW beta males and LWers who are making race a big issue....none of which is appropriate on a sports field.

Because you can no longer detect as easily that someone is Irish or Italian doesn’t mean the are not Irish enough or Italian enough to claim their own family linage

Colin Kaepernick used politics more for personal purposes, but he wasn't the first to politicize sports. Jimmy Carter wasn't the first to politicize sports either, but I firmly believe politics should be left out of sports and those who do it ejected from the field and stripped of any awards.

For the past week, they’ve played the national anthem one time a night at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials.

On Saturday, the song happened to start while outspoken activist Gwen Berry was standing on the podium after receiving her bronze medal in the hammer throw.

While the music played, Berry placed her left hand on her hip and shuffled her feet. She took a quarter turn, so she was facing the stands, not the flag. Toward the end, she plucked up her black T-shirt with the words “Activist Athlete” emblazoned on the front, and draped it over her head.

“I feel like it was a set-up, and they did it on purpose,” Berry said of the timing of the anthem. “I was pissed, to be honest.”

Something that got lost in that IRS discussion back then, was that nobody told any of these organizations that they couldn't carry on the work/events that they would if they were tax exempt. They just had to show that they qualified. It's pretty damned easy to make absolutely no money in any venture, which would make the tax status moot.
