Politics and sports are intrinsically linked.

I bet if you were alive in the 1940's, you'd have opposed Jackie Robinson playing in MLB because his presence in the league was entirely political.

You would have said "why are the Dodgers bringing politics into sports by signing Jackie Robinson, who was court-martialed?"

Don't try to deny it, we both know that's what you would have said.

Sweetie, now you've proved you've fallen off your rocker. Fine. Enjoy your spin and your fantasies.

No fucking Nazis. No fucking Antisemites. No fucking racists of all flavors. No politics on the field. That's the entire point.

Where is that written down as orthodoxy? Because politics and sports have had a long, long, looooooooooooong relationship.

How many US Senators and Reps were professional sports athletes?

It's not a comment about race, CRT, Gwen herself or you.

Stop trying to run away from what you said, Dutch. This is why people have a hard time respecting you...you don't conduct yourself in good faith.

t's that if this isn't stopped, then we'll be seeing Nazi salutes and other "raising awareness" from all the athlete

Ah...the slippery slope argument.

So, maybe you can explain why, in the last 80+ years of professional sports, not a single athlete threw a Seig Heil on the field, despite the many, many, many different protests by Black athletes over the same period?

unless you're such a racist that you think only African-American athletes can protest and no one else is allowed to do so.

Anyone can protest...like Carlos Delgado did when he refused to stand for the national anthem back in 2003.

What can't be controlled is the reaction to that protest.

If you want to throw Nazi salutes so bad Dutch, go right ahead. Just be prepared for the consequences of doing so.

We've been around the block so many times now that I can identify the same patterns and habits you rely on constantly to make yourself feel better on anonymous threads.

You always do this...you always say something completely fucking hyperbolic, then act like everyone else is wrong for pointing it out.

When did asking to keep politics off the sports field become hyperbolic?

When you use that as an excuse to silence Black women.

Politics and sports have always been intrinsically linked...why do you think there were Negro Leagues?

Do you think it was a mistake to integrate Major League Baseball because that was political?

How about the NBA? Was it a mistake to integrate that league too?

Are you on drugs? Medication? Did you even read the OP?

You're the one who is shitting his pants over politics in sports when politics has been in sports for your entire lifetime.

Every fucking stadium deal, every fucking expansion, every integration, even fucking mascots...all political and all happened over your lifetime and before it.

Crying about politics in sports is like crying about politics in comic books; do you understand the assignment?

These are highly political things.

Do you not think it was political when Jackie Robinson joined the league?

Your problem is that I've lived about 3 times longer than you. You don't understand the difference between politics in sports and politics on the field.

Yes, there've been incidents before. The NFL weenied out when they gave Kap a pass on his violations. Now we're seeing it infect the Olympics.

Fine, give everybody their five minutes to protest whatever they like and sports will become like the Oscars a few years ago, not a championship of human ability.

And yet you've learned absolutely fucking nothing.

And I'm 42, by the way...so...you're 126? That sounds about right...your brain is clearly being ravaged by neurological decay.

So I'm not sure how reliable your memory really is, given your apparent neurological decline.

You don't understand the difference between politics in sports and politics on the field.

I understand that you're now trying to move the goalposts to ultimately make a distinction without difference.

You like your sports free of politics, which means you like your sports free of Black people.

Right?

Did you happen to forget that Kaepernick wasn't the first one to kneel during the anthem in the NFL?

In fact, he wasn't even the first one to kneel during an anthem in professional sports.

What is the point of living to 126 years if you don't learn anything along the way?

The Oscars have never been about celebrating human ability.

Also, why do you think posting an image from the Nazi Olympics in 1936 has anything to do with American sports today?

Are you saying we are Nazi Germany if we tolerate protests like Berry's? Wouldn't Nazi Germany be the opposite? That Berry's protest would be stopped? Cuz that what's your arguing, dumbass.

You're arguing that a Black woman should not be allowed to express her beliefs and views.

So the real Nazi here...IS YOU!

Yes, it was. Acting ability along with directing, lighting, writing, etc. NOT FUCKING POLITICS. People started turning that shit off . The Academy finally put a stop to it as they saw their numbers dropping, but it was a little too late. People lost interest.

Kinda like letting all of your minimum wage workers go because a President fucked up the COVID response and then, when it's over, trying to get them back. Problem? Yes, because they've moved on.

That said, I don't plan on watching or supporting the Olympics for this very reason. If they want to make it about politics or pander to the masses, that's their choice. My choice to watch a movie instead.

Giving fame and riches to young athletes and young people gives our enemies new ways to destroy US

America's enemies can, do and will influence/seduce the young fuzzy brains into becoming advocates for their anti-American causes and spewing anti-American slogans because these noobs are young and dumb and impressionable and wish to be popular and popularity equals more $$$.

The sponsors should be made to abide by an agreement that the funds they give are contingent upon the athletes not speaking against certain pro-American values.

And/or the young people should be educated by pro America counsellors beforehand, or we should prevent their being able to speak on politics.

Yes, it was.

No, it was about which studio can successfully schmooze enough Academy voters in order to boost box office receipts.

Gone With the Wind is a shitty film.

Most of the movies that won Academy Awards in the 20th Century were shitty films.

The whole thing was exposed as the gigantic scam it was thanks to (of all people) Harvey Weinstein, proving that you don't need the best movie to win an Oscar, you just need the best awards campaign.

NOT FUCKING POLITICS.

Oh boy...are you going to be in for a shock when you learn that MOST MOVIES are political films that contain political messages.

Like Star Wars, for instance. That is anti-fascism all fucking day.

The Academy finally put a stop to it as they saw their numbers dropping, but it was a little too late. People lost interest.

The reason people stopped watching awards shows was because we all collectively realized that the whole thing was just a scam to inflate box office and ad revenue.

That's all those award shows are good for, is raising receipts.

It wasn't Politics that pushed people away from awards shows, it was the politics (small p) of award campaigns.

So when a movie like Shakespeare in Love beats Saving Private Ryan, it throws the credibility of the awarding agency into question because we know NOW that the only reason Shakespeare in Love won that year was because of Weinstein's campaign. Not because it was a better film (it wasn't).

For reasons entirely different than those who stopped watching the Oscars.

You're quite sensitive.

Who knew that a Black woman you never met could have such a drastic effect on your personal feelings?

You should really go to therapy to figure out why people you don't know are so easily capable of controlling you like this.
