It won't happen because...Socialism!

The only reason ppb is set by global markets, is because oil is sold on global markets.

Global markets cannot determine prices on U.S domestic programs. Oil sold at cost will help this country. Let the rest of the world be held hostage by American private oil companies.

I thought of something ironic just now. Thanks for this analysis, by the way. There have been several threads here lately started by the MAGATs about the evils of electric vehicles. Yet at the same time, they are crying about us importing oil. Um, wouldn't using more EVs cut U.S. consumption and return us to either neutral or net exporters? Hmm?

Nope prices were stable at about $50 a barrel. Then the China virus hit and consumption went down and oil prices collapsed. Biden came in and killed oil exploration on federal leases and halted fracking so investment in exploration fell and production fell. Then consumption returned to normal so we had to start importing more and we had less to export. Oil prices rose and gasoline prices rose. Biden begged OPEC and Russia to Pump more. They said no. The Us oil producers still have not caught back up from the damage done to them by Biden . If Biden had not kill the KL pipeline it would have helped when it was completed but Biden screwed that up on day one. So thanks Biden for putting the US in a weak position to make demands on Putin.
Fantasy.

Should POTUS be able to force American oil companies to produce?

Even as Wall St. forces companies to pay dividends instead of drilling?

[h=1]Hold That Drill: Why Wall Street Wants Energy Companies To Pump Less Oil, Not More[/h]

"U.S. producers are actually being restrained at the moment," says Helima Croft, global head of commodities strategy at RBC Capital Markets. "They are trying to be disciplined."
Oil companies are under a lot of pressure to keep their production down. And the call is coming from inside the house: it's oil investors who are pushing for companies to pump less oil.

You expect MAGA morons to understand the concept of irony?

We became a net exporter of petroleum because Obama relaxed restrictions on exporting crude oil.

President Obama signed the 2016 spending bill Friday, including a provision that would allow the export of U.S. crude for the first time in more than 40 years.

same reason GM (and associates) killed the EV1, gotta keep oil prices up or lose your stock options boys

The EV1's discontinuation remains controversial, with electric car enthusiasts, environmental interest groups and former EV1 lessees accusing GM of self-sabotaging its electric car program to avoid potential losses in spare parts sales (sales forced by government regulations), while also blaming the oil industry for conspiring to keep electric cars off the road. During the discontinuation movie director Francis Ford Coppola hid his EV1 from General Motors and was ultimately able to keep his EV1. As a result of GM taking the cars back as the leases ended and the subsequent destruction of the majority of EV1s, an intact and working EV1 is one of the rarest cars from the 1990s.

The American way. For decades.

I heard that the Governor of my state has ordered all Russia liquors off the shelves in the state liquor stores, which makes me very happy.

its a nice sounding gesture but that booze has already been bought by your state so the money has long since made its way to Russia so it only hurts your state's taxpayers.

Discontinuing future purchases would have some actual impact.

Yeah, nobody has been able to buy Cuban cigars for the past 60 years, right?

Haw.........haw..........haw.

More a connoisseur that has tried many things. I actually rarely drink anymore. Still love to try new things.

Nobody ever accused Strumpet of being intelligent.

I'll bet you prefer French Toast over Texas Toast

I do like French toast, but frankly don't know what Texas toast is. Maybe I'd like it.
Seriously, except for the people speaking French, France is probably more like Massachusetts than Texas is.
Also, even though they allegedly speak English in Texas, I sure as hell can't understand it.

This is no lie or exaggeration. In Boston, it was easier to understand Pedro Martinez talk than Roger Clemens. And if Nolan Ryan was interviewd, the local channels used subtitles.

I’m pretty sure it’s in the Constitution that no one from Boston can comment on the accents of others.
