What is the practical difference, Hormuz is blocked either way.

None of Trump's other war goals were met. The regime did not collapse, freedom and liberty did not break out, the enriched nuclear material is still unaccounted for, Iran's support for proxies hasn't been eliminated, and Iran's ballistic missile program has not been dismantled.

Right now, you and Trump have us waging war just to get the strait back to the maritime navigational status it was before you started your war.
You are arguing against a position I never took. I am not pro-regime change, and ‘freedom and liberty break out’ was not the stated objective — though, sure, he indulged in a brief Audacity of Hope flourish in the opening salvo.

Our debate was about your absurdly simplistic description of this as ‘just returning the strait.’

So what exactly is your claim — that killing terrorist leaders has no possible impact? Maybe it will. Maybe it will not. I do not know, and neither do you. But pretending the only thing that happened here was a maritime reset is childish

The problem with that idea is the process of weakening them makes them hate you.
Funny I have seen several videos from within Iran of explosions and the people celebrating. The pro Islamic regime is so hated that the people in Iran will endure hardship if it helps them get their freedom. Watch Tousi TV on YouTube he shows videos from inside of Iran almost every day.

How exactly is (“You saying the US lacked a “projection of power” prior to this?”) a “sophomoric” question to your comment that blocking the straits is important because it projects American power?
I was answering the difference in strategic meaning, not denying that the immediate shipping effect is the same. A blocked strait is a blocked strait in the short run. The distinction is who is imposing it, under what claim of legitimacy, and what broader balance-of-power message it sends.

What is the practical difference if the US is blocading Hormuz or Iran is?

Its blocked either way, right? We want it open.
Are you totally dumb or what? There is a HUGE difference, Now NOBODY goes in our out but US. No more letting China and France cruise in and out loaded with oil. Now WE decide. The playing nice phase is now OVER.

Both countries are controlling it, the US isn’t going to let any ship with Iranian oil pass and Iran isn’t going to let any oil that isn’t Iranian oil pass. Technically, it is just a stalemate, Iran loses revenue selling oil and the world economy loses by raising the cost of oil

Ah, “tsunami,” hate to break it or you but nothing, or next to nothing, was getting thru the Straits prior to this, only China was allowed to pass, the EU nor anyone else was getting oil via the Straits

You got to keep up with is happening rants than what you want to believe is happening

I have seen those, they were at the start of the war, have you seen any reciently?
